Bill Jones

Until he started writing, most of Bill's working years were spent making television documentaries. After six years as a print journalist, he joined Granada Television, Manchester, in 1982, from where he crafted films for ITV, BBC, Channel 4, Sky, Discovery, National Geographic and many others in a career spanning almost three decades. Featured amongst the many presenters he has worked with are Sir Peter Ustinov, Billy Connolly, Joanna Lumley and Sir Trevor McDonald.

Since turning freelance in 2009, Bill has continued to work in broadcasting. He then turned to writing biography. When Bill began to ponder ideas for a third book, his thoughts turned to Scotland. In the late 1960s he'd spent a week with his school cadet force at the Cultybraggan army camp near Comrie. The place had always haunted him, and when he dug back into its history he discovered a horrifying secret from its days as a wartime POW camp.

Bill is married with two grown up children, and lives in Ampleforth, North Yorkshire.

I greatly appreciated the superb organisation and was amazed at the level of enthusiasm for the Festival considering the relatively small size of the community.  It was well worth it for me to come up to Perthshire and I was only sorry I couldn‘t stay around for the main events the next day.
