Your writer-in-residence says good-bye!

23rd Oct 2014

My last hurrahs as your writer-in-residence took place over the BOOKMARK weekend, and spilling into the following week.

On the Saturday I hosted the Place Settings event, where almost all of the authors whose pieces had been selected for the anthology read to us.  I loved the atmosphere in the room - there was so much support and enthusiasm for each and every one.  I came away thoroughly heart-warmed, and proud to have been part of it all!

On the Sunday there was a wonderfully celebratory gathering of poets at the Ericht Ale House, closing off the Festival with A Poem and a Pint.  It was a perfect way to close the Festival, and I was delighted to read some of the poems I'd written as part of my post, from the collection Her Lines, My Lines, a collaboration of images and words with artist Kyla Tomlinson.

And on Tuesday, the venue shifted to the Perth Museum and Art Gallery for an opening of the exhibition Past Present Future, which included a collage poem I had made out of phrases and lines from all of the Place Settings pieces - spread out on the floor!  I know, it's hard to picture - but if you pop over to my blog post on the event here, you'll see just how amazing it looks!

And so to good-bye - till we meet again!

Congratulations to all the Bookmark organisers and volunteersw who made it such a wonderful event.  It was a huge privilege to be included in your Muriel Spark celebration.  The whole festival atmosphere was so welcoming - and what a fabulous audience!
