BOOKMARK Children in Schools Festival

12th Sep 2016

The BOOKMARK Children in Schools Festival is being funded directly by BOOKMARK to ensure that the festival reaches the widest possible children's audience.

This year, we are delighted to advise that BOOKMARK has organised events at Blairgowrie Community Campus, with children from Rattray and Kirkmichael schools joining Newhill and St Stephen's pupils.

On 8th September, Dundee-born children's author Bob Harris met with and read to P4 and P5 children from his books 'Thor is Locked in My Garage' and 'The Day The World Went Loki'.

This will be followed on 14th September by a visit to Primary 7 and S1 pupils by award-winning writer, Ross Mackenzie. His latest book, 'The Nowhere Emporium' won the Scottish Children's Book Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. Then on 20th September, Simon Puttock will entertain the wee ones (P1 - P3) with readings from 'Mouse's Night at Moonnlight School'.

BOOKMARK has always supported a writer's in schools programme with these author visits proving to be hugely popular with both pupils and teachers. Past event have been sponsored by various funders but this year BOOKMARK is funding the entire programme from its own budget. The organisation feels this is a vital part of its outreach programme, helping to foster a love of literature from a very early age, and is proud to support this part of our Festival.

It was absolutely first class in every way and sincerely I wouldn't change a thing about Bookmark! Honestly!
