BOOKMARK set to kick off in style

19th Jun 2013

For the launch of BOOKMARK this weekend we will be joined by two best-selling authors whose names will be familiar to all.

On Thursday 20th June, award-winning children's writer Lari Don will visit Rattray Primary School where she will be reading from some of her work. We expect that the children will have lots of questions to put to Lari who is one of their favourite authors.

Lari's books include the acclaimed First Aid for Fairies series, Rocking Horse War and the delightfully titled The Big Bottom Hunt. She has more books coming out this summer, so lots to look forward to.

On Friday 21st June, for our inaugural event in The Royal Hotel, we will be hosting crime writer Aline Templeton for a 'meet the author' interview, chaired by Christine Findlay. Aline will be talking about her approach to her work, explaining what it was that attracted her to the crime genre, and revealing to us some of the secrets behind her popular Galloway-based DI Marjory Fleming series.

On Saturday 22nd June we will have the first of our Fringe events in the Glens, when a group of local authors will hold a 'meet the author' session in the Kirkmichael Hotel from 2pm to 4 pm. This features also in the Kirkmichael Summer Festival which will be running over the weekend and we hope many of you will take the opportunity to drop in for a chat.

Let BOOKMARK begin!

A really big thank you to you and everyone at Bookmark for doing such a splendid job. I felt I was made truly welcome and everything was very well-arranged and proceeded so smoothly. I can only guess at the massive work done to make this possible. Well done! Please pass on my thanks to the other members of the great Bookmark team. I‘m pleased my event seemed to go well. A great venue and a lovely audience. Lin was a fantastic interviewer, too! I‘d be delighted to come back again any time. Also to take part in the schools programme, if possible.
