Crime Writer Gillian Galbraith to Launch BOOKMARK 2014.

6th May 2014

It’s official! BOOKMARK 2014 will be launched on 27th June with a Meet the Author event featuring popular crime writer Gillian Galbraith.

Gillian Galbraith

Gillian Galbraith

Gillian, who was born in Coupar Angus, has now written five novels in her Alice Rice series, all set in Edinburgh and featuring a female detective. Speaking of the first one, Blood in the Water, Alexander McCall Smith said, “There is not a dull page from start to finish.” Another in the series is due to come out this autumn.

In the meantime Gillian has embarked on a second series with the creation of the Father Vincent Ross mysteries, the first of which, The Good Priest, was published in April. As the title suggests, the central character is a Catholic priest – one with an aptitude for crime solving.

For the launch event Gillian will be exploring what goes towards the making of a crime writer. Tickets for the event (costing £5) are now available both from the website and from Louise's shop in Blairgowrie.

Copies of the programme for the festival proper will also be available from the launch date.

It was great fun and beautifully organised. A wonderful community venue, great flowers, fantastic sound and light and I love the army of red t-shirts - I think I’ll be taking a few ideas back to Bloody Scotland with me. Please ask me back and thank you for asking me to Chair Ron
