The first prize in the competition, held in memory of Perth poet William Soutar, is a week-long writing course at one of the prestigious Arvon writers' centres, worth around £700.  The runner-up will receive a £100 book token and there is a special local award of a £50 book token for the best short story by a resident of Perth and Kinross. Entries this year will be judged by award winning author Zoe Strachan.

Entry is free but limited to two short stories, which must each be less than 2000 words. Entries are welcomed from writers all across the globe and the deadline is Monday 30 June 2014.

The shortlisted entries will be announced on the PKC website by 20 August 2014, and the winner will be announced on Saturday 30th August 2014, at the annual Writers' Day where a number of workshops will take place in AK Bell Library in Perth.

Full details and the competition rules can be found on the Council’s website

Thank YOU all for such a wonderful event, Bookmark was one of the most warm, welcoming and efficient book festivals I have attended and have been to a few now.
