Alan Taylor

BOOKMARK was delighted to welcome to Blairgowrie Alan Taylor, who, with a number of special guests, celebrated the centenary of the birth of Muriel Spark, one of Scotland's best-loved and most original writers.

Alan, well-known journalist and critic became her good friend.  His memoir Appointment in Arezzo is an exceptional account of his friendship, full of wit, insights and charming story-telling. He is also a terrific raconteur and his tales of his travels with Muriel captivated the audience.

Alan was joined on the day with Rosemary Goring, Stewart Conn, Gerda Stevenson and Gail Wylie
