Brigadier Sir Melville Jameson

Brigadier Sir Melville Jameson

Mel Jameson was born and brought up at his home in Perthshire and was educated at Glenalmond College.

In one of his many important roles in life (including being a senior British Army Officer, Lord Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross), he was also chief executive of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo between 1995 and 2007 – and has written a book about this experience. This event promises to be highly entertaining, as well as giving us exclusive tales from the build up to the Tattoo’s programmes.

In 2007, he retired from the Tattoo but continued to act as a consultant for military musical events around the world. Later, he was consultant Producer for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant, Her Majesty's 90th Birthday Celebrations and her Platinum Jubilee Celebration. The Brigadier was appointed as Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for Perth and Kinross in 2006 and appointed KCVO in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2018. And on retirement in 2019 was awarded the 'Freedom of The City of Perth'. He is also an officer in The Royal Company of Archers, The King's Bodyguard for Scotland.

He is married to Sarah and has two sons, four grandsons and one granddaughter.
