Mollie Hughes

On Friday 10th January 2020, Mollie Hughes entered the Guinness World Record books by becoming the youngest woman in the world to ski solo from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole.

Overcoming weeklong whiteouts, storm-force winds, and temperatures of minus 45C, Mollie reached the Geographic South Pole having skied alone for 58 days, across 702 miles and pulling her 105kg sled full of supplies.

This was Mollie’s second world record, as in May 2017 she became the youngest woman in the world and the first English woman to summit Mount Everest from both the north and south sides, at the age of 26.

Back home in Scotland, Mollie runs an ethical adventure company called Ocean Vertical, she is the first female president of Scouts Scotland.
