Susan Nicholson

Susan Nicholson is a broadcast journalist who has spent the best part of 25 years reporting the news from the North East of Scotland for Grampian TV and STV.

Proudly born in Blairgowrie when the Cottage Hospital had a maternity ward, she grew up on a farm at nearby Kinclaven and stays close to her roots, helping with the lambing every year and farm sitting when her family takes a well-earned holiday.

Susan's first job in journalism was with the Perthshire Advertiser, where one of her favourite stories was to persuade a Perth baker to create the Scone of Destiny during an early campaign to have the famous stone returned to the city. Her work with STV currently sees her based in Dundee, covering a diverse range of stories. She is allowed the occasional foray to Aberdeen to present the six o'clock news.

Away from the cameras, she has adventures in the hills with her dog Nell, a working cocker spaniel who has stolen her heart, and most of her socks.

And finally, Susan loves reading and poetry. As a child she would sneak a torch upstairs at bedtime to continue reading The Faraway Tree series after 'lights out.' Her favourite authors include Fannie Flagg, John Steinbeck and Louis de Bernières.
