The launch of The Banes of Turas could not take place anywhere else other than in Blairgowrie, the town of Hamish Henderson's birth and even more so on the 11th November - his birth date. The event will see Jim Mackintosh being joined by Pino Mereu on whose original book Turas Viaggio Jim's translation is based. Pino is travelling from Rome especially for the book launch and will read one or two from the original whilst Jim will read the Scots translations. They will be joined by musicians including Pipe Major Callum Douglas performing music linked to the poems.
