BOOKMARK Book Festival

Perthshire's Book Festival

BOOKMARK 2024

BOOKMARK Chair, Gail Wylie

Our wonderful Chair, Gail is a very busy lady.
Not only has she organised a book festival to rival all other festivals,
she also finds time to volunteer for
Care Home Reading Aloud Sessions
at 2 of Blairgowrie's care homes.
During Volunteer Week, Gail was awarded a certificate and gifts for her dedication.
Below is a statement from Gail regarding her volunteering
and
photos of her at one of the care homes and
at her presentation.

Blairgowrie’s BOOKMARK Book Festival is delighted to be part of the volunteering initiative run by Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership.  It is important to us to take literature – in this case poetry – to people who cannot physically get to our events.  What a joy it is to read poems and see the effect it has on the listeners – from rapt attention to an aura of peace and calm in the room.  I can honestly say I get as much enjoyment from these visits as the residents seem to do!”
